Welcome to The Marlowe Review

The Marlowe Review is an online literary magazine publishing the work of authors interested in journeys, physical and otherwise, that explore the world as we know it today, as it used to be, and how it may take shape in the future. In the face of our many collective challenges, we are looking for writing that addresses difficult and challenging topics while searching for silver linings; that engages with the places in which we live, and finds reasons for optimism. Our world might sometimes seem dark and anxious, a place where every rock has been turned, and every mountain climbed, but there is beauty out there still.

At its core, The Marlowe Review is concerned with revealing this beauty, embodied in the act of travel, the experience between destinations, and the unions between people and places. There is no room in its pages for hotel and restaurant reviews, listicles, top tens, or the view from the airplane window. We seek creative interpretations of the travelogue; personal perspectives and ruminations of discovery; stories of people, their histories, crafts and traditions, the concept of ‘home’, and relationships with places. Whether they are poetic, fictitious or otherwise, what matters to us above all, is the material and quality of the work.

For our writers, The Marlowe Review aims to foster a community who champion the written word as a vehicle of exploration. We publish work from authors at all stages of their career, and actively promote those who are emerging or unpublished.

For our readers, we hope The Marlowe Review will be a place to which they can turn for insight, enchantment and inspiration.

Join us, as we revel in these our times, and teach ourselves to better appreciate them.
